Children's Christmas party in rural Costa Rica

by JodyCalvi January 8, 2014 | 4:02PM
Farm of Life participated in our villages annual children's Christmas party. We formed a makeshift choir with guitar and Mandolin accompaniment and sang Christmas carols in Spanish and English. We had to learn songs we've never heard before and Spanish lyrics too. So, the quality is less than spectacular, but we have plenty of spirit to share! The children are, of course, super adorable. Santa came to the party too, which was a special treat for the kids.

Chupo de Ojo is yet another type of stingless honey bee introduced to Farm of Life. 2 kinds are given new homes at the farm. One kind is small, black and very tranquil. The other is more aggressive, but still stingless. Both are very small and get the nectar from small flowers that larger insects can access. Both of these nests were saved from old or fallen trees, and given new homes.
